I'm not surprised that it's coming out green. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizing agent, and you may be getting some oxidation of the (copper in the) brass itself. Copper ion in solution can be green or blue, depending on what else is in the solution. Somehow this doesn't seem like a great idea.
