Lew made an assumption about which "model" Cerveny is being offered, it's condition, playing characteristics, and chose to (unfairly) belittle the seller.
Was it intentional? Obviously. Was it naive? Perhaps, although if I were less forgiving I'd call it plain stupid.

On this BBS it's become easier to trash-talk strangers than (simply) keep silent,
it's no wonder this BBS has become more of a bathroom-wall in the tuba world.
