I stand by the Empire recordings I got in the early 80's. All three on an album entitled "Russian Brass" on the Sine Qua Non label. I also have the Renaissance Brass Album and the Eastman Brass Quintet of the smae era. Sam Pilafian is astounding on the Ewalds and plays the best tuba ever recorded on Contrapunctus 9. I have always wanted to play the C minor statement down a octave with the authority that he did. I have them on vinyl, but was lucky enough to find cassette tapes of them last summer at an outlet mall in up-state NY.
