Well, my experience is that they are both great horns and certain traits are very similar. They both get the same general projection and tone charactor.

I've had the opportunity to play a fair handful of each, and the way I see it the biggest difference is the way each responds. The 21's I've played, with only one exception, have given a little more resistance and because of this, the glorious hirsbrunner core can be a little difficult to consistently attain. The 2p's, 1p's and 2's all respond as easily as any tuba I've ever picked up. I know that many tubists prefer the 2p's, and in my opinion they are the better tubas.

A friend of mine is looking to sell his 2p, at a very reasonable price. I know there are a few others floating around that could come on the market, but this one really is the best 4/4 CC tuba I've ever been lucky enough to play.
