I have not played a Mirafone 186 in a while but I was never a big fan of them. In my opinion( please don't respond...my humble opinion only) ,even in the hands of a pro the sound becomes harsh at great dynamic levels. I played a Rudy 3/4 CC for many years and it was a great horn...full sounding yet agile. It's at home in a brass quintet or for solo work but it can hold it's own in an orchestra. I've played about 10 Rudy 3/4 CCs and there wasn't a dog among them.( the best of them all was a silver plated 3/4 made in the sixties!)
