Sleep Apnia and forced air

Someone in an earlier post mentioned hooking up his grandfather's
trachea/beathing tube to an air compressor to play really long notes.

This gave me an idea....

I have a friend at work who is suffering from
something called "sleep apnia". In it's early stages, its
just like really loud snoring. But later in the night
the air passages sometimes block and breathing stops
for up to a couple of minutes. Anyway, he has a machine with
a mask that forces air through the nose so that the nasal passages
stay open and there's a clear path for air. He brought the machine
to work once, and it looks like the mask only covers the nose.
There may be enough room below the mask to get to a tuba mouthpiece.
I'll have to see if he can bring the machine to work tomorrow.
If so, I'll bring my horn in tomorrow and take both for a test drive :-)
I'll post the results of the test, if this does happen....

Anyway, has anyone else here given one of these "sleep apnia" machines a try?
Either to help them sleep or to play really long notes?

Thanks
