When I was in 10th grade and on the bari sax, I received the optional alto sax part (A double of the lead trumpet part). They finally got me the tuba part, but not before I memorized the trumpet solo/soli. So when it we got there I ALWAYS played it with the trumpets :)
My section mate switched to tuba before me, so he was quick to transpose it to tuba (an octave below be on bari, who was an octave below the trumpets). Disappointing that the band director never flenched with that...But freacked when the alto playes played the solo :(
