To one who has studied statistics and probabilities as much as I have, it seems not only reasonable but expected. The cars on a two-lane highway tend to bunch together in platoons, and the spaces between the platoons surely look different than the platoons themselves. But that doesn't imply any relationship between the cars.
On the other hand, the bloom may be coming off the ebay rose. That site seems to be overrun by "new" tubas from questionable sources, and fine tubas that are occasionally offered often don't meet the sellers minimum expectation. The days of $8400 Holton conversions and $6000 York BBb bidding wars may be over. Then again, maybe we just need to wait for the next platoon.
