There is one thing that i really like about Rudy Meinl Tubas (ok, there are a LOT of things I like about Rudolf Meinl Tubas but here's one that i never see mentioned).

Ergonomics. (i hope i spelled that right)

I have a 4/4 Rudolf Meinl CC. The tuba "fits" in my lap (not on the chair!). The leadpipe is _exactly_ the right heighth. The valves were exactly where i expected them to be. On most of them, the 5th valve trigger is comfy for me (but this varies, i'm picky) and the 2nd valve slide trigger is almost exactly where i would put my left hand.

All of Rudy's tubas have the leadpipe in roughly the same spot and are roughly the same heighth. everything from the 3/4 CC to the 5/4 CC to both 4/4 and 5/4 F tubas.

Meinl Weston horns vary drammatically in this respect. There have been meinl-westons that sortof worked for me (2145) and ones that were obviously built for somebody who is 7 feet tall (like the OLD rotary 2155 and the 197)..
