I played one of these instruments while in Germany, and actually a certain company in North Carolina had a used one several years ago. This instrument was supposed to be a more modern Alex, with a larger bell flare, a smaller bore to make it more agile, supposedly more of a chamber instrument. I think the reason it didn't catch on was because of Alexander tradition - basically anyone that wants to play an Alex CC is looking for what the 163, or the 164 kaiser model can give them. Anyone looking for a .750" bore rotary CC tuba for chamber work could buy a Rudolf Meinl 3/4 CC, which does the job better, or a similarly-sized horn.
