I second that, if the man wants convertible tubas and has some money, I would buy Kanstuls. They make great solid horns that are responsive in doors and have blasting sound outside on the field. In high school I played convertibles and in college I played conn sousas and the air needed for a sousa is more but there is still more sound from a sousa. If the horn is for marching I would get sousas and another advantage of the big sousa is that it will help develop a young players air. But if you have to have one horn for both types of playing I would get Kanstuls. I've played Conn 15Js that were fine for both but I don't think you can get them anymore unless you can find a set of rebuilt ones.
