All three horns modified by the three above mentioned repairmen were 1290's, I believe. I have played a couple stock 1290's and some were better than others. The 1295 is very similar with only minor changes. The end result is supposedly a little better intonation and a little brighter sound. They now also come factory with a flat wholestep fifth valve. I have not played one myself, but I am sure a little of the 1290 style tweaking would work on them and make it into an even better instrument.
