"Slamming" someone, calling an individual an idiot, stating opinions, are all very different from using a name that reinforces racial stereotypes. I would strongly support anyones right to do either under the 1st ammendment, but I would choose not to do the later, even if it is protected speech.
As a Jew in America I am very sensitive to name calling in any form, having been subjected to it, even by teachers, in the 50's and 60's through High School.
