Find a solo competition, honor band, allstate band, etc.,or if she is a college student ask her to do a mock recital or perform a peice for a studio class or infront of her piers or even take some auditions. Get her excited to perform and play on the level that she is at- outside of the practice room. Especially the honor bands if she is younger, because this is a great way to show a student all the benefits of practicing. If you have several students involved you can show those who didn't practice that if they would have worked harder... well you can see my point. I have to go but I hope all these posts help you to inspire your student more effectively
