Sorry for the catchline. But with the increasing representaion of rare species on this board, one has to come up with something catchy.
By accident I just discovered a home strobo:
Plucked the strings of my Ovation Viper guitar while holding the neck vertically between me and my 85 Hz CTR computer monitor.
Saw a complex sinus type oscillation running down especially the low E string.
My ukulele showed much less complex patterns.
The E and A strings of my bass guitars showed complex patterns. Didn't want to take my string contrabass from the kitchen to the computer room.
I run a 3 monitor set-up. Two of them 85Hz CTR's, one a 75Hz liquid crystal (is that a flat-screen?)
The flat-screen let no oscillations be seen.
I have long known, that when I watch TV while warming up on the low brasses, then the TV picture will jump up and down until the cheek/nose areas have relaxed by stretching and the resulting increase of the bloodstream. Part of this experience certainly being related to the fact, that I wear glasses seated on some cold and stiff nose tissue.
Would others of you have experiences with differently Herz'ed monitors?
