The above poster (Rod Mathews) and I had the great fortune of taking a little tuba/beer factory tour in January. Hey Rod, PROST! To add to what Rick said, VMI is the factory where brandnames like B&S, VMI, Schmidt, Scherzer, Hans Hoyer and a few others are made. They also do all of the plating, lacquering (SP?) and valves for many instrument makers in and out of the JA-Musik group. That is why now you can see the same valves and other parts on different brands of tubas.
