I am not a euphonium player, but when I do play euphonium I play a 52E2. When I firs played a euphonium I looked for the largest mouthpiece in the box that they had at my school. That was a 53. I liked it and it gave me what I thought was a wonderful sound, then one day I mistakenly played a 52E2. The ease in the upper register was wonderful and I gained fullness in the low range. The very large cup in the E2 I really like and I have played that mouthpiece everytime I play euph. ever since. Don't know if this helps but that is my experience with the mouthpiece. I say make the switch, the mouthpieces aren't all that expensive as long as you don't get gold and if you don't like it go back to the 51D.
