I played on a 52E2 ith the european shank on my hirsbrunner (as well as a Willson 2900 for a bit) for about three years. I thought I liked the size, but when I changed for a smaller Doug Elliott, everything was so much easier. My problems with the 52E2 are the extreme roundness of the rim, which hurts your articulation, especially at softer dynamics, and the cup diameter was just slightly too large for me to control, creating an unfocused sound. Still, if you want a bigger, darker, less cylindrical sound than the 51D or the BB1, then the 52E2 will definitely give you that. I know that's why I bought it in the first place.
