One of these days I will see a film that was much discussed locally after being shot in Cangary about 25 years ago. It is "Buffalo Bill and the Indians." Evidently it featured a small brass band with an important musical role being played by my friend Cal Muirhead. Apparently his sound was quite distored, as by a microphone hanging down his bell, but Cal must have looked terrific in the part. Cal was at one time a bassoonist in Calgary's Pricess Patricia's Light Infantry Regimental Band. He learned tuba to play dixieland and became a very good player in this idiom. Loved by all, he is now in semi-retirement in the interior of British Columbia.
