Nothing wrong with using a 62H for jazz band. It gets a nice dark sound at lower volumes but can really bark at louder volumes which is what you want in a big band. Bill Reichenbach uses a modified 62 I beleive and no one is going to argue with his jazz chops and sound. Years ago I had a 60H, same horn but with one valve, and I often wish I still had it.
