Thanks David. You and I seem to share the same philosophy. I, too, think it's best to try more than one at a time, but that may not be an option for me financially. I have bought and sold horns with individuals before, and some of the horns were not what they were made out to be by their owners. If a known and respected player said his horn for sale was a great example of that particular model, I might be less apprehensive, but it really depends on how I play it. Tubas are expensive enough without having to ship several back and forth for trial or flying somewhere to try some (includes air fare, car/cab/train fare, logding, lost vacation days from work; guess I can save for all that, too). All this got me to thinking about differing opinions and standards we all seem to have and all the factors that go into the "intonation equation". BTW, how's the 45slp working?
