I will make you no offer, as I already have a Conn 26K Eb from 1928. I consider it the least interesting of my 4 Eb and BBb basses. Yet it is the one, that the pro's want to loan and buy from me. The latter will not happen.

The weak point is the lowest register, but it certainly can tell a convincing story in the mid and upper ranges.

The reason, that made me buy the PT-50 mouthpiece, was, that it gave me a very strong command over the upper range of the 26K (the low end improved as well). The smaller mouthpieces don't work for me.

Lars Holmgaard, the tubist from our Royal Chapel, for whom the 2 first 5 piston Thein tubas in F and CC were made, was chocked by the heavy weight of the 26K., when he loaned it for the new years concert of his orchestra 17 months ago. But he reported to be equally chocked by the ease with which it could be played. He used his extremely thin-walled Thein mouthpiece.
