not to stir up anything, but I don't think one has advantages over the other. They both allow you to play the horn, right? One advantage of rotors is that that aren't as easy to be taken apart. One advantage of pistons is the number of working parts(3) One disadvantage of rotors is the ability to break or be mangled if dropped on to it. One disadvantage of pistons is the higher rate of sticking. So, it doesn't really matter when you think about it.
