I think the asking price is consistent with prices I've seen at Baltimore Brass for this model. If it were really too much, wouldn't Mr. Fedderly have a dozen used ones in his store right now? As it turns out, he has none. They don't last very long at this price.
Finally, he said "asking $6500". That implies that he is willing to take offers. If you want the horn at a lower price, make an offer. Otherwise, stay out of his business.
