I only pass along what has been asked of me - and yes, we actually have $ for new. I would think that new would last a bit longer than a rebuild given the "loving care" given by the students. I'm thinking mostly about the non-replaced parts and how often the dents have been & will have to be knocked out.
Don't get me wrong - I just had my own horn overhauled (for a hefty sum - but well worth it). My horn is "almost" like new - but there are signs of aging that only replacement can fix.
