To find a particular pitch a given number of half steps above a starting frequency, multiply the starting pitch times 2 to the power (number of half steps raised/12).

For example, no half steps above A 440 would be 440 times 2 to the (0/12) power, which is 440 times 2 to the zero, which is 440 times 1, which = 440.

one half step up would be 440 times 2 to the 1/12 power, which would give the value for Bb that you have above

one octave above would be 440 times 2 to the 12/12 power, or 440 times 2, which is 880

All you need is a scientific calculator with a "y to the x power" key.
