I am pretty sure that there was a trombonist in the Air Force Band (Paul Welkommer?) that was offered a gig with Baltimore. He was denied becuse he had just enlisted. A contract with the military is, in most cases, pretty ironclad. If you are near the end of an enlistment there may (with a capital M) a chance that your command could help you.
