Hi Bill,
If your EEb older Besson or Imperial is flat as they all are, the solition is a simple one. The back bow has to be brought up by cutting one inch on each side by the joint. That does resolve the problem without changing tuning slide or lead pipe. On mine, I had tuning slide 1,2 and 3 shorten as well but try the back bow first.
