...mouthpieces I have seen are chrome plated. These are not high quality mouthpieces, and if they are still made at all, they're aimed at the entry-level, don't-know-any-better market. To me, the chrome plating is very hard, and feels so on the mouth...much, much more so than silver. It also tends to flake and peel, and being thicker than silver or gold plating, leaves an unpleasant sharp edge. I'd stay away from anything like this if I were you.
