I am a 21 year old euphonium player who just recently was accepted into the Navy band
program. It seemed like my best option after getting into deep financial trouble
with the overly expensive private university I was attending. I understand that it
may not be the best gig in the world, but it will get me out of debt and send me
back to school.
Unfortunatey, I had to make a tough decision between two things I love.
Marching in a drum and bugle corps my age-out year, or leaving that and shipping
off to boot camp in july. I was told that if I didn't leave in July that I would
lose my seat at the armed foces school of music and would probably not be able to get back in for quite a while. It was a hard decision and I am hating life right now
knowing that my friends are on the road doing what we love to do while I'm sitting
at home wishing I was there.
If anyone has any comments or consolation, it would be much appreciated.
