There is a prescription medication called Kenalog, which isn't commonly used, but is specifically designed for this type of thing. I keep an old tube of it around -- I'm sure it's probably expired. It's kind of gross and pasty, but it really does work. Seemed to me it worked best when I gooped it on before bed.
