I severely busted my lip playing hockey 4 years ago. It bled for about 3 days, and I probably should have gotten stitches, but I didn't. I was back playing in 3 weeks, though. Granted, my embouchure is now slightly off-center and I still have scar tissue, but it doesn't really affect my playing. It's just something to get used to.
