Low register work does help; I've seen my range go up two or three notes this year mostly
as a result of low and pedal register work.

However, I guess what I'm missing the most is endurance in the high register work. After
playing five or six pieces in a concert of ten, I dread the next set which invariably have
the high register sections that may get muffed. I play next to trombonists with cast iron
lips, who seem to be able to play the high notes all day long with ease.

The other thing is that after a 2 1/2 hour rehearsal I always have bruised lips, and it
takes a couple days to get back to normal. Band rehearsals and my practice sessions are
so different in "content" that it makes me think that I am only going to harden up my lips
and increase high register endurance by changing what I practice.
