2 rotarys, 2 pistons (on top) . . actually, that's exactly what happened in the Bavarian Radio S.O., with very interesting results in Mahler (Kubelik). May not be kosher, but it worked. I also envision a day when horn sections will have a combination of modern doubles (inclduding descants) and Vienese single F-horns.
