I've heard that using a glass of water and a straw is a good place to start. Then it's just air flow, without embouchure, that you are concentrating one. I suppose next would be mouthpiece buzzing or free buzzing, until you can do that. Then move to the tuba. At the IHS conference a few weeks ago, there was one soloist I observed doing circular breathing (there were more who did it, but I was up close for this one.) What struck me was that although the tone kept going, his quick inhale through his nose was so loud that it covered up the note!!! Not much point in that, huh?
