I suspect it is not fingerings but clef changes that are going to throw you for a loop(not to mention mouthpiece size differential). The American tubist generally does not transpose the music in front of him/her. The trumpet in C is the trumpet that also does not transpose. Suffice it to say that most beginners will start on Bb trumpet, which sounds down a whole step form where the note is printed. You've chosen an ambitious double in tuba/trumpet. I've yet to know someone who has really pulled that off at a high level of playing; but I don't know you, I don't know everyone, and I certainly don't know it all.
