Any CC tuba with a whole-step 5th can "convert" to BBb, and it'll do it correctly as long as you take the time to pull all the valve slides out so that they tune correctly. I can play my 5-valve BBb as a GG tuba if I pull the slides and hold the 5th open.
With the G50, apparently, there is a way to render the 5th rotor inoperable, meaning that if you want, you can have it stay in the "closed", i.e. BBb position. How does this work? Can the linkage be disconnected, or re-routed, or what?
