I have one caution to offer about buying CC or BBb by sound... If you've been playing BBb all your life, and you try several instruments in both keys, most likely you will like the majority of the BBb's better, because they are more comfortable. Prior to my first CC purchase, I had never played a CC, and it was very hard trying to decide between several CC horns, all of which FELT funny. If you're sure you want to eventually play a good CC horn, it may be better to buy a less expensive CC now, so that when/if the time comes that you want to move on, you will be able to make a much better personal choice, because you will be able to judge the feel/blow/intonation of the horns for yourself.
This is just based on my own experience.
