I've had good success with the AKG409 (no longer available new) or the updated AKG419. Both are relatively small clip-on condensors with excellant rejection of sounds outside of their pickup range (they work very well onstage with monitors and virtually eliminate feedback problems and bleedover from other instruments) They come with several cable options -- phantom-powered XLR (like a regular mic, but with power applied from the mixer -- not always guaranteed!) or with a 9-volt battery pack, my personal preference. There is also a wireless version, if you are inclined to stroll while playing.....
