There is not enough work for anyone who only does one thing unless you are the absolute best in the world. Those of us out here in the "trenches" can tell you working for a living as a musician, at best, is a tightrope walk, and you'd be advised to have a good safety net. Learn a second instrument (bass, piano, bass trombone, etc);learn copywork, arranging, finale, book your own band, get a home studio, teach. there are all sorts of things of things you can do inside and outside the music realm to do as a mainstay and still play the tuba. It's may not seem ideal at the moment, but in stretching yourself musically, you will use everything you learn in your playing. - Ike in Nashville
