Ken, I just had a student purchase a St. Petersburg tuba and I was quite impressed with the sound, pitch and low register. It seems to be a lot of horn for the money. The only problem is dealing with The Tuba Exchange. Be careful! This horn is a 4/4 size and is capable of doing a lot of different types of playing. I bought two VMI's a couple of years ago for my studio and I like the S.P. better. Another horn to take a look at is the Wurzbach tuba that Orpheus Music sells, I think it's about $500 more than the S.P. Good
