I don't know about too involved. Though it is possible to burn out.

I am a professional low brass player and on any given day i may be playing sm tenor, lg tenor bass bone, tuba euph. And playing many horn keeps me from burning out mentally

My recommendation for consistent success is to warm up properly on each instrument that you play that day. Try not to switch back and forth though it is inevitable. and if you find your self swollen, try a little asprin.
for eg.
yester day i had a tuba gig during the day and a small tenor at night
the night before i cooled down practiced the tenor. next morning warmed up on tuba and played the job. took some asprin. an hour later started a full, slow warmup on tenor, drove to the gig. and played

success
good luck,

ps for me being a multi instrumentalist is my key to success as a free lancer but it is not for everyone. By the way what is your favorite, for me it is commercial tuba playing
