I've done it and didn't like it!

At times I was the only player in a brass band. I had to choose what octave to play (since many parts have upto 4 octaves at once), I had to play loud to be heard in fortissimo passages, and gennerally it was not a good time. When the others came back (there were legitamate reasons they were gone) I was more than happy to buy the beer.

Also, for the person who brought up the Summit Brass, when they have the full 17 piece group, there are usually two tubas playing.

Now why do so many of the band from accross the pond have funny vibratos? Could it be the accent or driving on the wrong side of the road?

Sykoman are you out there to let us in on this?
