It's interesting that the Alex had inverted valves. I made a post back in Dec. about a player here in Knoxville with an Alex that has the inverted valves, except that it's a very late model with mechanical linkage. No one seemed (at that time) to have known of this valve set up. I had requests for close-up photos of the set up, but I have not been able to obtain any. If you could post as clear of a picture of those valves as possible, I know some folks would appreciate it. Especially some of our more adventurous customizers.

Were all of the horns of that vintage made with the inverted valves? When did Alex make the switch to post-outward valves? I wonder why they switched, because the horn here in Knox-vegas has a VERY short valve throw (like a tpt. or F. Horn) due to the long down rod. It's a very nice valve action.
