I have always thought that certain movements of the Carnival of Venice would sound good on double-bell euphonium. Actually any of the old theme and variations type pieces might be suitable if they have short similar phrases. Play the first phrase on the large bell, and then echo with the second phrase on the small bell. I play "ALL Creatures of Our God and King" this way. I've always thought that it might be fun to arrange some Bobby McFerron pieces for double-bell euphonium. Have your friend get one of his albums and it might inspire him with some ideas. A lot of Bobby's unaccompanied works seem to have a solo voice with a bass voice part sang between the solo lines. Bobby sings both parts himself but he does such a good job on it that it seems to be 2 voices singing simultaneously. Also I've heard of Jazz Euphoniumists using a double bell euphonium to trade fours with themselves when improvising.
