I know that quite a few people don't like the Holton Phillips CC tuba. It is quite heavy for it's rather small size and blows very different from other tubas. I haven't had too much experience with them, but what I do know is that they would suit a quintet fine, though I don't think it is very equipped for any other situation of a larger setting. I've heard people use the horn in a large setting, but I found it not to be cutting through. The Meinl-Weston is a better choice, not because I'm selling mine, but because I find it to resonate better, have better intonation, and I find the sound a little easier on the ear. hope this helps some.
