A breathing tube would be a fine place to start. These simply get you feeling what it's like to have a decent sized column of air moving in and out.
A great excercise I learned when I was in Jr. High is to put a metronome on 60 (or 80 or 100 depending on the kid's size) and breathe in evenly for five counts, out five counts.
do this a couple times and then try taking in as much air with three counts a couple times. the excercise ends with trying to move maximum air in and out in one count each way. This is a great introduction to the popular method of training you weaker abilities by mimicing your stronger abilities.
