Hey Mike,

I believe the York that Michael Russell plays was purchased from Dave Franke in the early to mid eighties. Dave had owned it for quite a few years (probably 30-40 years) before he sold it to Michael Russell. I believe it was the first horn that Dave owned. When purchased it was a 3 valve upright, then Mr Russell removed the 3 valve section and adding a 4 valve section and made it front action. I had purhased the York from Dave for $200, but in its original form it played out of tune, so a traded it back to him. Of course I was young and foolish and didn't know what I had. I also had one of the first shots at the Holton BBb that you now own. This time I wasn't young and foolish, I just didn't have the money. I played it when I was down visiting Dave and loved that horn.
