Regarding my question about LOW notes being flatter than HIGH notes when the tuba is cold:

When I play a C below the bass clef staff, am I generating two 8 foot long sine waves? If so, since at least one and a half of those sine waves are travelling through cold, dry air when the tuba isn't "warmed up", could this be why notes in the 2nd partial (and to some lesser extent, 3rd partial) range are flatter than 4th, 5th, and 8th partial range (more and more shorter and shorter sine waves, that have opportunities to be "stablized/set-up" in the already-warmed end of the instrument) notes, when the tuba is cold?...

...or am I so off-base that my question is the equivalent of asking why oceans don't spill off of the edges of the earth?
