Yes, certainly, a compensating tuba is in fact a double tuba. In fact there are compensating double french horns. Getzen used to use that design, and I believe that some Paxman triples use that principle. This tuba was not designed as a double tuba, but it really does function that way. Once I get into the low end with the fourth valve engaged the fingerings are CC fingerings. With the succes of this horn I'm thinking that a newly designed intended double based on this premise might work well. The possibility of the F/EEb or EEb/CC compensating double also may have some real merit because of the more closly pitched pairs.
